If there is one place on campus where there is always activity and tinkering taking place it’s Mrs. Morriss’ science lab where Robotics, Physics and Engineering is taught.

Engineering III students are currently hard at work on self-selected projects. Engineering III is the capstone class for the student in pursuit of Academy of Our Lady’s STEM Major. Students who successful complete the STEM Major course requirements will receive a regale cord at graduation.

Junior Emma Palmisano is designing an emergency shut off for a winch system while junior Anh Dao is designing a drainage system for her house in Vietnam. 



Putting what they have learned into action junior Olivia St. Germain is designing a keypad lock system and senior Patricia Lubag chose to design earbud protestors to prevent tangling. 
 

Academy of Our Lady’s Engineering II course curricula in from Engineer Your World at the University of Texas at Austin and support by a Support STEM grant from the Brown Foundation. Student enrolled in Engineering II are working on designing a system to help physical therapy patients track their range of motion through a video motion capture system.

Sophomores Aimee Guillory and Giselle Lozano-Gonzales are dying ping pong balls to be used as marked for the camera to track in their system. They will also be added to a sock for a system that focuses on the ankle. 

Sophomores Duyen Pham and Kyra Poree’ are sewing leggings to be used as a wearable device to attach the markers for the camera to track motion of the knee.
