The Academy of Our Lady Volleyball Team defeated Central Lafourche on September 17 in 3 sets with the score of 25-20, 25-7, and 25-10. Academy of Our Lady is currently 6-0. Five members of Academy of Our Lady’s Key Club visited the residents at Woldenberg Village on Saturday, September 14. While there senior Rachelle Sancho, senior Kaylin Bair, senior Amber Verdin, freshman Kidron Romoser and freshman Sanaa Frazier assisted with set up for a Hawaiian themed barbecue for the residents. Academy of Our Lady’s Fine Arts and Religion departments are excited to host an evening filled with all things Halloween including making treats in the culinary lab, creating a Halloween song, celebrating All Saints Day by crafting Mary Mazzarello keychains, learning a Halloween dance and much more! Girls in 4th-7th grade are invited to attend. Cost to attend is $5.00. Registration and payment must be submitted online by Wednesday, October 9.Space is limited. Academy of Our Lady's Math, Science and Health Science departments hosted An Out of this World STEM Adventure on September 13. More than 80 girls in 4th-7th grade participated in STEM activities which included a space race scavenger hunt, polymer alien worms, stomp rockets, flame tests and so much more! Archbishop Shaw High School joined Academy of Our Lady for Mass on September 12. In addition to worshiping together, the schools also inducted their student council members following Mass. Principals from both schools, Dr. Mark Williams and Sr. Michelle Geiger, expressed that it is an honor to be elected a student leader. Academy of Our Lady’s robotics team, Power Struck Girls, traveled to Denham Springs on Saturday, August 24, to compete in the annual DOW Red Stick Rumble. More than twenty teams competed in this off-season event to get energized for the new school year and new robotics season. The Power Struck Girls had a strong performance in the qualifying matches, with their robot Portia accomplishing many required tasks. To view pictures click on the title of this post.
